Phil Jones is one of my favorite Manchester United players. There, I said it. He isn’t a club legend. We never saw the best he had to offer. He is infamously linked with the “Chuckle Brothers” moniker with Chris “Mike” Smalling. But I really liked him. Something about his potential, about the aura of what could have been that came when Sir Alex dared compare him to Duncan Edwards.

Then again, January is a long time ago if you think about it. But it’s remarkable how quickly things can change in a season. After that 2-1 win over City, it seemed OK to dream about bringing home all the hardware. We did nick one trophy since, but two other competitions are out of reach, leaving Sunday’s awkward encounter with Brighton.
