Book Thoughts: East of Eden by John Steinbeck

As one does during Christmas sales season, I bought a couple of things for myself with the intention of using them—I’m talking, of course, about books. I can proudly say I’m one of those people who buys books when there’s a stack of unread ones on my nightstand. There’s no better way to be.

I finally dusted off one of them, though—and I’m very glad I did. East of Eden is a book that has stayed with me since I finished it, and I think it’s even helped change my perspective on things going on IRL. That is the sign of not just a good, but a GREAT book.

New England vs. Hartford Athletic, US Open Cup: Start the kids, bring on the cavalry

My favorite bit of sports trivia: Who is the only American to have their name on two trophies in two different sports? Lamar Hunt! The return to action for the Revs in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup came Tuesday night against local “rival” Hartford Athletic—the first time these sides have met in an official match. It was far from pretty, but the Revs ended up on the right side of a 2-1 decision to advance against their USL opponents.
