New England at NYCFC, Match 16: I did other things today but still want to post something

Went and hung out with my kid at an asparagus festival in Hadley. No, I’m dead serious. There’s really a festival held specifically to celebrate asparagus. It was actually pretty fun. Since you’re asking, I had pierogis with asparagus in them and deep fried asparagus with this aioli dipping sauce that was pretty good. I’d suggest going next year if you are in the Western Massachusetts area. But in an effort to remain consistent, I have thoughts about the result without seeing the game.

BUT YOU DIDN’T WATCH!!!!

Yeah but a man can still have feelings.

  • Honestly didn’t expect much when I saw the starting lineup. Jozy started. I said last week I’m not going to beat dead horses anymore so…
  • …what’d Giacomo Vrioni do to be this far in the doghouse? Two-striker lineup screamed out for him and Bobby together, especially after it worked against Chicago.
  • At least all three DPs got on the field together today. That’s positive to see. Twitter was alight with the suggestion that Bou got into it with Ema at the end and that’s bad, but hopefully it’s just because Gustavo is pissed off and ready to play again.
  • A point is a point when we play at the baseball stadium. Revs’ historic record in that building is abysmal. Thank goodness we have Djordje though, a quick scan through the Revs’ twitter account shows how many saves he had to make today.

After playing four of our last five on the road, a nice homestand at Gillette is just what the Revs (7-3-6, 27 points) need before a trip July 1 to FC Cincinnati. First up is Inter Miami and a chance to right that awful result from May 13 that started this poor run of form for New England. Yes, Miami will be on the new-manager bounce, but there are three points ripe for the taking for New England, on the way to nine points before the trip to Ohio.
